Natural herbal healing has been around for thousands of years; as long as mankind itself. In lands all across the globe, man instinctively turned to native plants and herbs when seeking remedies for ailments and thus natural herbal healing was born.
In this article, I will mainly discuss some of the facts about natural herbal healing including its types. Did you all know that every continent had its own natural herbal healing practice? Yes, it’s true. There are certain natural herbal healing practices from which everything else was born. Included in those natural herbal healing practices are the Ancient Chinese Medicine from the ancient China, Ayurveda from ancient India, and Egyptian from the ancient Egypt.
But before anything else, natural herbal healing actually existed since time immemorial, perhaps, when the advent of herbals emerged. Natural herbal healing or commonly known as herbalism is one of the old techniques that is widely known in many parts of the world. As I have said, every continent had their respective natural herbal healing practice for one thing or another.
For instance, in the Egyptian natural herbal healing practice, their application of herbs is generally combined with their traditions of magic that leads to the concept of amulets and gems. They Egyptians, with their healing practice, have discovered, perfected, and passed down the art of mummifying which was greatly done with herbs and spices.
The practice of herbalism still thrives in Egypt today as it does in countries all over the world. After thousands of years of trial and error, many herbal remedies have withstood the test of time and are widely accepted and adopted by the locals, even if modern medicine cannot or will not confirm their efficacy.
In the place of ancient India, their natural herbal healing practice known as Ayurveda generally dates back for about 5000 years and has a very detailed history. It is interesting to know that this type of natural herbal healing is still practiced today in many parts of the world, including the United States. They mainly use herbs, breathing, and meditation, together with diet for the overall wellness. It is also considered that this natural herbal healing is based on balancing and sustaining the five elements of the body being earth, water, fire, air and ether.
Along with that, came Chinese herbalism which is about 3500 years old and founded by the ancient Chinese spiritual leaders. This natural herbal healing is still practiced today not only in its place of origin but also in other parts of the world. In fact, the Chinese natural herbal healing is renowned as one of the most absolute and effective herbal traditions these days. It is generally practiced in combination with massage, acupuncture, diet and the art of movement and breathing known as Tai Chi.
With the popularity of natural herbal healing, many other forms of herbalism such as the North American Native Indian herbalism and the folk medicine emerged. And today, several combinations of these mentioned traditions are well-practiced in many health centers along with the new Western practices.
In the United States, natural herbal healing and other natural medicines are slowly regaining the popularity they once deservedly enjoyed. Herbal pharmacies are popping up in cities across America and mainstream medicine is starting to take a serious look at some of these herbs and their effects on health and healing.
